Murramarang is on Yuin country. It is home to the largest known midden on the NSW South Coast, with stone tools, bird and fish bones and other artefacts used by Aboriginal people dating back at least 7,500 years. In 1832, six Aboriginal people were massacred here by white settlers, supposedly in revenge for attacks on cattle. The killers never faced any legal consequences.
